STRATEGIES:

In Heatseeker 2v2, the best way to win is running one defender and one demo chaser. Redirecting is a decent alternative, but only if the player doing the redirects is good enough to hit them consistently. (And even then, a good demo chaser will usually clear out the defense before a redirect is even possible.)

For 3v3 Heatseeker, it’s better to have two defenders and one demo chaser. Why two defenders? Because if one gets taken out by a demo, the other is usually still in position to save it. If you’re using a redirector, it works the same way — if one defender misses the redirect, the other can at least try to make the save.

When you have two defenders, you want one sitting on or just ahead of the goal line, and the other about a car length behind the forward defender. Ideally, one holds left-to-left-center and the other holds right-to-right-center. (If you’re running a demo chaser, you might have to move around a bit more, but these spots are still optimal for most shots.)

If all three opponents are defending, one of your defenders can rotate up through midfield to try for redirects until they’re no longer triple-backing. Midfield is the easiest place to get accurate redirects from.

Redirects straight down the middle are the hardest no matter where you’re standing. Only go for middle redirects if you absolutely have to, or if your redirector is super confident and consistent with them. Mid-left or mid-right redirects are generally the safer bet.
